The precinct includes William Street (commercial offices), Neville Bonner Bridge (public pedestrian access), and Tower 4 (QWT4) which houses luxury residences and hospitality venues. The project required a robust and scalable security solution to support 24/7 operations, public safety, and asset protection across diverse environments.

A brief overview of the electronic security installation and the challenges faced.
The Queens Wharf development is a high-profile, unionised site with complex stakeholder engagement and industrial relations challenges. Queens Wharf Redevelopment Part A spans over 12 hectares of state-owned land between the Brisbane River, George Street, Alice Street, and Queen Street, connecting key city areas like the Botanic Gardens, Queen Street Mall, South Bank, and the Cultural Precinct. Securitas were additionally awarded the 320 metre Neville Bonner Bridge, connecting the Queens Wharf precinct to the South Bank cultural arts precinct. Securitas were further awarded Queens Wharf Tower 4, a unique residential tower, that is the tallest building in the precinct and the only residential tower directly connected to the outstanding facilities of the integrated resort development.
The $4.5 million electronic security package included Gallagher access control, Jacques intercoms, CCTV (including LPR, PTZ AI &analytic powered), and lift destination control integration, fire and Building management systems and emergency response systems.
Our team delivered cutting-edge security solution, overcoming significant challenges including productivity & budget constraints, severe weather events, skilled labour shortages, industrial relations issues, supply chain disruptions, and the complexities of a large-scale, mixed-use 12 hectare precinct.
Overview:
- Advanced surveillance system: Over 900 high-definition CCTV cameras, PTZ with targeted AI-powered analytics for real-time threat detection, and behavioural analysis, ensuring comprehensive coverage of public spaces and heritage buildings.
- Access control system: A centralised, biometric-enabled access control platform managing over 1,500 entry points, seamlessly integrating with hotel, 666 residential rooms, and commercial operations to provide secure, tiered access for staff, residents, and visitors.
- Intrusion detection and alarms: Sophisticated perimeter and internal intrusion detection systems, utilising over 700 IoT-enabled sensors and real-time alerts, to safeguard critical infrastructure and high-value assets.
- Security management platform: A bespoke command-and-control system, built on an Gallagher -architecture framework, enabling seamless interoperability between CCTV, access control, alarms, lift integration emergency response systems including duress & help points and future capability for next stages of integration with third-party systems such as fire detection, building management systems and This platform enables our client to scale their system as they expand their hotel operation s in Queens Wharf Tower 4.
- Cybersecurity measures: Robust encryption, network segmentation, and continuous monitoring to protect the electronic security infrastructure from cyber threats.
The system was designed to meet best & forward-thinking practices for electronic security in public spaces, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with Australian standards and preparedness for increasing tourism in the lead into the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
